A DABAWENYO marched with flying colors during the 100th commencement exercise of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) at Fort del Pilar, Baguio City, Saturday.
Antonio G. Bulao I, of Buhangin, Davao City, graduated Magna Cum Laude of the Sanlingan Class 2005 of the PMA.
Among the awards Bulao received during the graduation rites include President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Achievement Award for Leadership, Philippine Army Saber’s Award, Vice Presidential Saber’s Award, Natural Sciences Award, Engineering Sciences Award, Weapons Systems Award, Tambuli Award and Jusmag Army Award.
Being the brigade commander of his batch, Bulao was also given the Chief of Staff Saber’s Award.
Bulao is said to have chosen to join the Philippine Army after graduation.
Meanwhile, a high school classmate of Bulao at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) expressed elation over his achievement in the PMA.
Judee Bacus, a Philippine Science High School teacher, remembers Bulao as the Damath King.
Damath, Judee said, in a math competition uses the formula similar to a chess game.
“Maremember nako mahadlok og earthworm si Bulao kadtong nakauban nako siya sa camping (I could remember that Bulao was afraid of earthworm when we’ve been together in one camping) activity that we facilitated. He was the president of the DCNHS Boy Scout,” Bacus said.
Bacus said Bulao is a “gentleman, a joker and a determined leader.”
“Crush ng Bayan siya and he is also fond of calling for a reunion with his classmates in high school,” Bacus said, adding that Bulao graduated Salutatorian also in high school.
